Nathan joined Chambers in October 2018 following successful completion of pupillage. Prior to commencing pupillage, Nathan worked as a County Court Duty Advocate, a role which required him to regularly defend individuals and families against housing possession proceedings initiated by local authorities, housing associations, private landlords and mortgage companies.
He also worked as a Specialist Welfare Benefits Adviser at the Brixton Advice Centre, a role which involved running the Welfare Benefits department, managing all client cases, legal research, conducting conferences and drafting grounds of appeal across the spectrum of social welfare law to First-Tier and Upper Tribunals. Nathan has a particular interest in social justice and has provided free legal advice in food banks as well as delivering lectures in schools to disadvantaged youths.
Family Law
Nathan is regularly instructed to act for applicants seeking emergency injunctive relief and occupation orders, and has developed a reputation for providing high standards of client care whilst handling matters pragmatically, robustly and delivering persuasive advocacy. He undertakes private law children work for both applicants and respondents and is frequently recommended by professional and lay clients alike. He has appeared in complex fact-finding and final hearings and has also successfully appeared in the High Court. Nathan has also successfully appeared on behalf of parents and children at all stages of contested public law children matters.
Criminal Law
Nathan is developing a broad criminal defence practice and regularly appears in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. Nathan has experience in acting for the defence in a wide range of trials, including for charges of assault, possession of bladed articles and offensive weapons, and driving offences. Nathan also appears for the defence in the Crown Court for bail and sentencing matters, and additionally accepts instructions from both the Probation Service and the Crown Prosecution Service to appear in both the Magistrates’ and the Crown Court in breach proceedings. He also has experience of Youth matters.
Immigration Law
Nathan has appeared in First-tier Tribunals for matters including appeals against Home Office refusals of claims for asylum and humanitarian protection, as well as bail matters.>

Interests
Nathan is a recently-suffering supporter of Manchester United and plays 5-a-side football to a competitive standard. Nathan additionally enjoys watching live sport, including Formula 1, rugby and tennis. He also enjoys motivational public speaking, cross-country trekking, writing poetry, rowing and community volunteering.
