Tenancy

Staple Inn Chambers welcomes applications from established practitioners across all practice areas. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and adhere to best practice on equal opportunities.

All applications will be considered in the strictest confidence and should, in the first instance, be sent to our Membership and Pupillage Secretary, Paul Jones at pj@stapleinn.co.uk.

Pupillage

Staple Inn places great importance on the recruitment and training of pupils, from whom Chambers has traditionally recruited its future tenants. Many of those who have undertaken pupillage with Staple Inn remain as active members of Chambers across all areas of practice and length of call. Chambers also invites applications for 3rd-six pupillage.

All pupillage vacancies are advertised on the Pupillage Portal and all applications are assessed by reference to Chambers’ Pupillage and Tenancy Selection Policy.

Mini-Pupillage

Applications are currently welcome. Staple Inn Chambers offers up to 15 mini-pupillages per year and aims to provide those mini-pupils with experience of a variety of Chambers’ practice areas.

Applications should be made in writing to the Membership and Pupillage Secretary, comprising CV and covering letter. All applications should be sent to pj@stapleinn.co.uk with the subject 'Mini-Pupillage'. In the event a candidate is unable to apply in this format, they should contact the Membership and Pupillage Secretary in order to discuss any reasonable adjustments that can be accommodated.

Staple Inn Chambers would be grateful if all candidates would also fill in and submit with their application a copy of Chambers' Diversity Monitoring Form, which can be obtained from the Clerks.

Due to the nature of work that Chambers undertakes, Staple Inn Chambers welcomes applications for mini-pupillage from candidates aged 18 years and over only. All candidates will be required to sign undertakings relating to confidentiality and data protection issues prior to commencing their mini-pupillage.

Diversity Monitoring

All prospective applicants for mini-pupillage, pupillage and tenancy are invited to complete Staple Inn Chambers' Diversity Monitoring Form, which can be obtained from the clerks, and to submit it together with their application. Any information gathered in this way is entirely confidential, is for the purposes of monitoring as required by the Bar Standards Board and will in no way impact upon any application received.

Who to contact with any queries

The Membership and Pupillage secretary is currently Paul Jones and prospective applicants are invited to contact him by email to pj@stapleinn.co.uk with any queries in respect of mini-pupillage, pupillage or tenancy.

Paul Jones is also the contact in respect of any reasonable adjustments that a prospective applicant may wish Chambers to consider.
